Add an email address to an externally hosted domain

In case your customer is using an external domain with their Mono website, you are still able to provision email addresses for that domain through RAI.

For example, let's imagine that you have built a Mono website for your customer who owns the business Peter's Bakery. The customer has previously purchased the domain peterbaker.com on an external domain hosting platform (e.g. GoDaddy, HostGator, etc.) and has pointed it to their Mono website. Now, they would also like to register the email address sales@peterbaker.com. You can purchase an email subscription in RAI and change a few DNS settings provided by the domain host in order to provide the desired email address to your customer while retaining their domain on the external hosting platform.

Follow the steps below to provision an email address through RAI for an externally hosted domain.

Add an email subscription

First of all, add an email subscription in RAI as described in this article.

Change the domain DNS records

Your customer needs to log into their domain control panel and add a few DNS records in order to be able to user their new email. Please consult the domain provider's documentation or contact their support team for more information on which exact DNS records to add.
